Withdrawal
A withdrawal is removing funds from your trading account balance.
A withdrawal refers to removing funds from your trading account balance and, therefore, reducing the available margin. When making a withdrawal from your trading account, you should always consider how it can affect your margin level. If the margin level falls too low, it can trigger a stop-out mechanism.
Common reasons you might find for withdrawing funds from your trading account are:
- Withdrawing profits
- Reducing risk
- Taking a break from trading
When withdrawing funds from your trading account, you should be familiar with the terms and conditions. Due to anti-money laundering regulations, brokers are quite strict about deposits and withdrawals.
In general, you can only withdraw money back to the original payment method used to deposit. For example, if you deposited on your credit/debit card, the broker would refund the same card. If you have any excess funds from profits, you can withdraw them to a bank account in your name. Brokers will not withdraw funds to someone else’s bank account.
